Hi tech city calls for upgrade

Tough day! its good time does not stop for anyone; else all of us would have gone into infinite loops. Nothing much has happened on the home front - other than the routine stuff. One thing I am looking forward to is - mom is coming over for a few weeks. .

Now that I am on this page, I need to fill up a few lines at least. There are lot of little things that happen in and around all the time - some good, some bad and some ugly. One such silly point - no pun intended - The fact that my name is Selma in spite of being born in a Hindu family, has raised many eyebrows from time to time. I would love to poll vault over all those raised eyebrows. And so it was....

I went walking with Achu one evening. This is a routine exercise and we meet lot of people and things. Some of achu's interest (dogs, cats, cars, trucks , sparrows) and some of mine (people, people, people). And that day we met an aunty (one random Indian middle aged woman) . Oh! one thing that I forgot to mention is that we live in Hitech city, Hyderabad, supposedly with the uber cool , happening crowd, just about 5 kms from Microsoft, Dell, Oracle, Google etc - yeah, you get the idea. Coming back to where I was, so I started a dialogue with aunty when another lady joined us. We were happily chatting about maids, traffic, sales and so on. Later we landed on the topic of festivals and the third person (I mean grown up- I have still not started considering Achu as a person, he continues to be an extension of myself) casually says "I have never asked though we met many times, whats your name". I replied "Selma". TWING.... Bollywood sound effects...of eyebrows going up. Confused, they were! I could see the question going around in circles all over their heads - Is she a Muslim? And then we diplomatically moved on to some other topic. I left a bit later to continue my evening walk with achu.

Well, I suppose "Hitech City" implies that we have high speed Wi fi n/ws running in our neighbourhood and send our kids to international schools and such %^&*. Not sure what the length of the pipe that connects one's mouth to gut is. Must be a long one!

  1. When even ISRO has a puja before sending a rocket up, maybe you should examine your criteria that science takes away God from the picture. Come to think of it, most western scientists were deeply connected to God. Like say Isaac Newton, for example, or the 5 time nobel nominated scientist Prof. Shcafer who's coming to Hyd this weekend to conduct a seminar on Christianity & Science. The latter's joy comes in discovering something and saying, "So that's how God did it!"

Coming to uber cool - maybe you should read statistics that young India is becoming more spiritual than ever.
